Going off-grid or traveling the world can be a fantastic experience, but you don’t want to stray too far from your portable chargers and gadgets (although you should). What if there was a better way to charge your devices without relying on traditional methods? Sego Innovations, a company founded by BYU graduates, is introducing a new solar charger incorporating NASA-grade technology. This post will examine the Sego solar charger and why it’s a game-changer.

There is a heavy push for portable renewable energy nowadays, and I have even written about portable wind energy.

While Aurea focused on the power that can be derived from wind, Sego’s opted to focus on energy derived from the sun. The push for solar renewable panel technology started with a project for NASA to create a mechanism that would comply with all of the space agency’s standards. This project involved creating solar panels that were light enough to be easily transported and incredibly durable. It was here they implemented the origami-like design inspired by orbiting satellites.

Now the solar charger can unfold up to 8x its folded size.

The Sego team realized this technology could be applied to regular portable chargers that people could use daily. Using various shapes instead of flat squares and rectangles, Sego’s solar charger repackages NASA-grade solar panels for the portable charger market.

One of the most innovative features of the Sego solar charger is its use of SunPower monocrystalline cells. These cells provide 25 watts of charging power in optimal sunlight conditions. Not only does this mean you can charge your devices much faster, but you can also use the charger in very low-light situations. The panels are cut into triangular halves and quarters reconnected using a PCB (printed circuit boards), allowing for more efficient use of space and light. This design saves space and weight and helps the solar panels collect as much energy from the sun as possible. Now you can have portable solar panels for RV.

Charging your devices with the Sego solar charger is incredibly easy. Once you’ve connected your devices, place the charger in a well-lit area and let the sun do the rest. It comes with an adjustable tripod allowing you to maneuver it to the optimum sunlit angle.

Because the device is so portable, you can take it wherever you go, whether hiking in remote areas, camping in the great outdoors, or just using it as a backup charger when you’re on the go.

So how much for this portable marvel? You can find it in two options, with the original model costing $289. This is the entry model, which is more than sufficient for 99% of the public. If you want the premium model, comprised of highly durable carbon fiber, the price jumps to $475. The standard model weighs roughly 3 pounds, while the premium model is slightly lighter at 2.5 lbs. Both versions are available at this early bird price until supplies are depleted. You can expect to take delivery in May of 2024.

Conclusion: Sego’s revolutionary Solar Charger makes charging your devices more accessible and helps reduce your carbon footprint using solar energy. As more people become aware of their environmental impact and the need for alternative power sources, Sego’s solar charger will likely become increasingly popular. The Sego solar charger is not just a device with unique and innovative NASA-grade technology; it’s a travel companion that will make your life much more straightforward with its easy-to-use, space-efficient design.
