This Italian Designed Transportation is “Available for Pre Order"
As the electric market grows, this phrase is repeatedly used as “available for pre-order.” Countless innovations and technological advances are being made daily, but those looking for instant gratification will have to wait in line. I am not a patient person, but I have learned to become patient over the last few years (Haven’t we all?). The Energica Experia is another promising innovation in green touring motorcycles with a few features worth being patient for.
Energica prides itself on having built this green touring model from the ground up with the full intention of being an electric model. This means optimizing the motor and increasing the battery's capacity for a more extended range and enhanced performance. Even more important was reducing the bike’s weight and maintaining a low center of gravity to keep the cycle nimble and agile while traversing all ends of the Earth.
My first questions were, “who is Energica, and where are they located? I believe the following sums it up as pulled from Energica.com
Energica Motor Company S.p.A. is the first Italian manufacturer of supersport electric motorcycles. Energica electric motorcycles are the ultimate expression of Italian luxury, masterfully manufactured in the Italian Motor Valley in Modena, Italy.
Energica prides itself on manufacturing luxury, high-performance electric motorcycles, and the Experia is no different. The bike looks to be stylized and streamlined. As expected with an all-electric ride, this is a zero-emissions experience.

Energica has made some improvements to their motor (pictured below) with the introduction of this Experia. So much so that they could reduce the weight of this PMASynRM (what?) motor by 10% or 22 additional pounds. For those tech-savvy individuals, the PMASynRM stands for Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor.
The redesigned lighter-weight 22.5 KW battery is based on previous Energica models. Energica added more cells to increase capacity, providing a more extended range. This is a touring bike; without range, it wouldn’t be much of a tourer. Even more importantly, this is the largest battery on a production electric motorcycle. Expect to get 130 miles of range on the highway at a moderate 70mph speed. The overall range will exceed 260 miles during everyday city driving. The maximum speed of this bike is 112mph.
The bike is equipped to handle level 1, 2, and now level 3 charging. Although not the first electric motorcycle to offer Level 3, see the Livewire One; it is still not widely offered. You can expect DC level 3 fast-charging to bring the Experia from 0 to 80% charge in 40 minutes. The bike will attain 240 miles of range using level 3 charging for every hour of charge.
Also included are the top and side bags for a total storage capacity of 112 liters (pictured above). Once these are affixed to the top and the side, the motorcycle's aerodynamics will be affected. Expect a loss in the overall driving range of over 10%.

Pre-sales of this bike have already commenced, with the first consumers estimated to take delivery as early as September. Expect a starting price of $25,880 before tax, delivery, and additional charges. Just think, you could have this bike in time for the next “color tour.”
